  3. what events or people were involved,
  4. how it affected your life
  5. and what difference it makes today.
Why not share it with us here ...

Even though I grew up in a home
where my parents were Christians
and I was sent to Sunday school and church
I knew I was not a Christian
– I knew a lot about Jesus but didn’t know Jesus.

When I was 13 I had started to kick against my parents
at school I would choose to say things that were wrong
just to shock people – because my dad was a minister.

There were special meetings in church that year (a mission)
one night as I left - a very clear thought crossed my mind -
- I knew that God wanted to forgive me
- I knew that if I was sorry he would - become my friend
- I knew I could have a relationship with God - forever
I had often thought people were foolish for becoming a Christian
That night I realised - I was foolish for turning my back on God

I asked God to forgive me and to be my friend
Just a few days later
my mum asked what had happened she saw the change
Since then I have not been perfect,
but God has always been there as I turn to him for forgiveness
being a Christian
has mean daily asking God what his plans for me are
asking for his help to live for him and share what I know

He is truly the best friend anyone can have and the only friend we will have forever.”

I grew up in this church and went to sunday school and church but from an early age I felt assurance from going passed my mum and dads bedroom door every night and watching them kneeling to pray however as I came into my late teenage years I realised my need of the saviour through two good friends from my school days and having attended a mission in the Christian Workers Union Hall I became a Christian. I have tried to make a difference in church life sometimes failing miserably. I was greatly influenced by our former Clerk of Session Willie Gilmour who in my eyes was a great encourager. Of recent times in church life I can see God making such a change in peoples lives and it is my prayer that more and more within our church family will trust in him as their own and personal saviour.

I GREW UP AS A BOY HAVING A MOTHER WHO WAS A CHRISTIAN SHOWING GODS LOVE TO EVERY ONE IN OUR FAMILY. I ATTENDED SUNDAY SCHOOL AND CHURCH AND LOCAL MISSIONS IN THE AREA.
I KNEW ABOUT THE LORD’S SALVATION AND THE NEED TO BE SAVED IN CHRIST JESUS YET I WAS MORE INTERESTED IN THE PLEASURE OF THE WORLD.
IT WAS THROUGH MY MOTHERS DEATH AND A NEAR ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD TO WORK AND HOW CLOSE I WAS TO DEATH KNOWING THAT I WASN’T RIGHT WITH THE LORD AND WOULD NOT BE ENTERING GODS ETERNAL HOME IN HEAVEN. I FELT A CLEAR COVICTION IN MY HEART TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN.
ON THE SUNDAY NIGHT OF THE MISSION HELD IN MY CHURCH I FELT THE PREACHER NEW MY NEEDS AND THAT THE MESSAGE WAS FOR ME BUT YET I LEFT FOR HOME STILL REBELLING AGAINST THE LORD.
THE LORD WAS STILL DEALING WITH ME. THE SLEEP LEFT ME ALL THAT NIGHT I HAD NO PEACE TILL I HUMBLY GOT DOWN ON MY KNEE’S AND YIELDED MY LIFT TO THE LORD AND ASKED HIM TO FORGIVE ME OF MY SINS AND BE MY SAVIOR FOR ALL MY LIFE.
MY FAMILY AND WORK COLLEGUES HAVE NOTICED THE CHANGE IN MY LIFE FROM THEN ON.
SINCE I ACCEPTED THE LORD AS MY SAVIOR IN MY LIFE HE HAS BEEN A TRUE FRIEND ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT BEEN PREFECT HE HAS FORGIVEN ME. THE LORD HAS RICHLY BLESSED ME EACH DAY. HE HAS TAUGHT ME TO BE HUMBLE IN PRAYER TO HIM WHILE ALSO HELPING ME TO TELL OTHERS OF THE WONDERFUL SALVATION AND LOVE HE HAS FOR US ALL.

I was brought up in a Christian home and from the age of five was always present at Sunday School and Church. As a young boy I enjoyed Sunday School including the exam at the end of each year. Over the years into my late teens I continued to have a keen interest in the Church and God. People looking at my life may well have thought that I was already a Christian. However, the reality was that despite my Christian activities I was lost and blind to the truth of the Gospel of Christ. Then a mission came to Town and I was asked to come along. I really enjoyed the mission because it was great fun getting the bus out to the barn each night and you were always made very welcome. But then one night God spoke to me and made me realise how lost I was and that He was calling me unto Himself. So that night I asked God to forgive me for all my sins and accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord of my life. By God’s grace I was saved and destined for Heaven. The Bible says:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Eph 2: 8

PS If you read it quickly you might just avoid the heat of the flame.

I read this out loud at home and we enjoyed your testimony especially the bit at the end about reading it quickly. We didn't test the theory but I doubt we would have got burnt.
