Thursday Evening Malawi Update

3/6/2010

Lorna and Maureen were away at 5am this morning to visit the clinics on the lake shore. Down the cliff road to the lakeshore but "that was nothing compared to the journey on the lake" Very choppy and only went because of new boat. (Clinics at Zunga and Tcharo have no roads and can only be reached from the lake by motor boat, which takes a 0.75 hour and 2.25 hours, respectively, from Mlowe). Arrives at Tcharo soaked from 'spray'. Called at Zunga and met Grace etc. Lorna is finally doing some training tomorrow!!

Thought I had already commented on this but no!! I well remember being green when we went to Tcharo on the Gilnahirk many moons ago - hope your sea (lake) legs are better than mine were! The lake can be very choppy. Hope it was worth the trip. Hard to describe what the lakeshore villages are like. Glad you made it safely back to the plateau anyway!
