Maureen and Rj Hanna and some others held a Bible Club in Children's ward to day. It went well and the mums really seemed to enjoy it as much as they children! They made some interesting pictures of Elijh and the Ravens. R hope to have another one on Friday. Rj is having a Bible Study with the builders during lunch time. Claire continuing to improve. Wnt back to ballykajoni for one last day. Give thanks for her progress.
Give thanks that Claire is improving and temperature is settling. Continue to pray for her. Maureen busy night on call last night pray for rest for all tonight. They are stayin in the Matron's house so between Wangani and Maureen - Claire is in good hands!
Please pray for Claire. Took sick last night with vomitting and diorrhea and is on treatment for Malaria. Pray for Maureen too as she feels the responsibility for her neice.
Talk in church went well and Rev Bota led a lovely response and prayer after. Thanks to those who prayed for her. Had a walk this afternoon with RJ Hanna (Mourne Pres. short term volunteer ) and Una Brownlie (PCI missionry) and is enjoying spending some time with them. Good news - the child who came in to hospital very ill on Maureen's first night on call is now up laughing and running. onj his first night his haemoglobin was so low that he needed a blood transfusion urgently and Maureen gave him some of her blood as no donars available. Praise God for good recovery.
Lorna met an interesting man on the plane home from Nairobi. His name is Solomon Nabie and he is the mission director of IcFEM. Their mission is to empower communities in Africa to accelerate community transfromation. It is an interesting work and I do wonder if Ballykajoni would benefit with help from an organisation such as this or something similar. Check out their website www.icfem-mission.org.
Ward rounds this am in Female and Childrens Ward. She had good news about the young boy who had an abscess in his leg and would not bend it last Monday. He had progressed with physio and started on an exercise bike last Friday that Lorna had found in the store. Maureen reports he is now going full speed in the bike and should be discharged soon.!!
Claire is glad to be back in Ballykajoni and just loves working with the children. It is good to see them still enjoying the games the 2009 team taught them. Chief Allen's wife is home with new baby and according to tradition will have to sit and sleep on the floor and not be allowed to cook for one month. Pray for Claire as she tries to get her head round this. Maureen has been asked to name the baby which normally means they want to use your name so watch this space!!! Due to interest in blog I will continue to keep it updated until Maureen leaves malawi on Sunday week.
